SpruLight privacy policy
Effective October 12, 2026
SpruLight is an app for tracking your miniatures collection and the time you spend assembling and painting it. It is made by an independent developer.
The short version
SpruLight doesn't collect or transmit your personal data to the developer. Everything you enter is stored locally on your device. SpruLight has no developer-operated servers and doesn't share your information with third parties.
What the app stores, and where
- Your collection (the box sets you own), your models, the time you record while assembling and painting, your journal entries, the paints you own or use, and your settings are stored only on your device, in the app's own storage.
- Journal photos are stored in the same place. When you add a photo, SpruLight saves a resized copy and a small thumbnail, not the original file. Location and other information embedded in the photo aren't kept. The app keeps only the date the photo was taken, so it can show it in your journal.
- The app has no account, no sign-in and no developer-operated server.
- When a timer is running, its clock appears on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Your device draws it from information that stays on the device.
Camera and photos
- Camera: the first time you tap Take Photo in a journal entry, iOS asks whether SpruLight may use the camera. The camera is used only while you take that photo, and the photo is stored in SpruLight, not added to your Photos library. If you say no, the rest of the app works the same.
- Photo library: when you tap Choose Photos, iOS shows its own photo picker. SpruLight receives only the photos you select, and never sees the rest of your library. It doesn't need your permission to browse it.
- The app doesn't use your location, contacts or microphone.
Backups
If your device backs up to iCloud or to a computer, the backup can include the app's data and your journal photos, depending on your iCloud and backup settings. Those backups are handled by Apple under Apple's terms and your own settings. The developer can't see them.
What the app doesn't do
- No analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking built into the app.
- No third-party code: the app uses only Apple's frameworks.
- SpruLight works entirely offline and doesn't transmit your collection, journal, photos, or painting activity over the internet.
- No syncing between devices: each device keeps its own data.
This website
The website at sprulight.com is made of static pages. It has no cookies, no analytics and no scripts, and it loads nothing from other sites. The Support and Privacy policy links in the app open this website in your browser. It is hosted by GitHub Pages, which, like any web host, may process technical information, such as visitors' IP addresses, under GitHub's privacy statement. The developer doesn't receive that information.
Deleting your data
Deleting SpruLight removes the data stored in its app container on that device. Existing iCloud or computer backups may retain copies according to your backup settings.
Inside the app, removing a box set from your collection deletes its models, their recorded time, their journal entries and photos, and the list of paints used on them. You can also delete individual journal entries, which deletes their photos.
Changes
If a future version changes any of this (for example, to add syncing between your devices), this policy will be updated first and the effective date above will change.
